Art And Craft

“In our classroom, art is about expressing creativity as opposed to bringing home a finished product. It is the artistic process: inspiration, focus on completion and expression of their vision that we encourage, regardless of the outcome. Our art related work is generally open ended, allowing limitless creativity.”

Art And Craft

Children are encouraged to explore their creativity by using various art media such as water paints, markers, colored pencils, crayons, collage, etc. Our art program develops creativity, aesthetic sense and appreciation of art. It also exposes children to the styles and works of famous artists. Origami, the ancient Japanese art, encourages the child to experiment with paper art. Batik and tie and dye techniques will enable the child to dabble with the medium and enjoy his creations.

Clay and Pottery

While working with clay, children are instinctively motivated to push, squeeze, poke and pound the clay. A change in its shape makes them realize that their actions have consequences. This encourages further experimentation. Several developmental needs are met when a child works with clay. While making their favorite figurines children acquire a sense of proportion and size. Manipulating clay enhances their visual perception of colour and texture, olfactory perception of the distinctive type of scents that emit from them and their tactile perception of rough, smooth and hardness. It builds their fine motor skills, eye hand coordination and fosters creativity, curiosity and self-expression. Clay activities help children cultivate patience and increases their attention span. Exploring with clay also has a therapeutic and calming effect on children.
